Caring for Cane Corso Puppies

Feed your mother with four meals per day during the course of four days

During lactation, the mother will require more calories than normal. Purchase a puppy or dog food that has a minimum of 430 calories in a cup. Instead of feeding your dog only once or twice per day, provide the mom with four small meals that are divided over the course of the day.

• The mother might not take a meal for the first two days following having given birth. That's normal.

Introduce the puppy to solid food at the age of three weeks.

Mix one cup of the replacement for Cane Corso Puppy milk with one portion of the water into a saucer, once or twice per day. After about four days you can add tiny amounts of the crumbled puppy food into the milk. Every day, feed the puppies less milk till they are able to take a bite of solid food on their own. It usually occurs around about four or six weeks of old.

The puppies should be vaccinated at 6 weeks

Bring the puppies to the veterinarian so that they will receive their first dose of shots. They will receive shots against measles, distemper, parainfluenza, and bordetella. Veterinarians will also inspect the puppies for possible health problems.

Allow the pups to have fun and play with other puppies

Cane corso is a very active breed. Once the puppies are able to walk and see and run, they'll begin racing around your house. Make sure you give them plenty of space to run around and play.

• Socialization at a young age is essential for this type of dog. It is important to expose them to a wide range of people as they grow older.

• Avoid walking or exercise your pups after they have eaten. Cane Corso is extremely prone to bloat.

The puppies should be taken on their way to new homes within the ages of eight and 12 weeks

Puppies shouldn't quit their mother at any time before age eight weeks. The majority of puppies are adopted between the ages of eight and twelve weeks old.
